SpongeBob SquarePants is the main protagonist and the eponymous character of the Nickelodeon animated comedy of the same name.
SpongeBob is a childish, eccentric sea sponge who lives in a pineapple in the underwater city of Bikini Bottom. He works as a fry cook at the Krusty Krab, a job which he is exceptionally skilled at. SpongeBob lacks a lot of knowledge and is a constant annoyance to those around him (especially Squidward Tentacles), but he is very good natured (or at least he tries to be).
In M.U.G.E.N, SpongeBob has been made by various authors, making him one of the characters created the most for M.U.G.E.N.
UchihaCody's version
Using sprites from the GBA platformer Spongebob Squarepants: Revenge of the Flying Dutchman, this very early version of Spongebob only has a total of five Normal attacks, with no Specials or Hypers to speak of.
FelixMario2011's first version
Before the more well-known version of the author's little sea sponge, there was this version. While this Spongebob may use the same sprites and the same Eternity of Heroes template, his moveset is very different, and he's a lot less forgiving with how he chooses to use it against opponents, especially with the projectiles he can spam.
FelixMario2011's second version
Arguably the most well-known version of the character, Spongebob the Sponge uses the Super Marvel vs. Capcom: Eternity of Heroes character template and thus plays like a Marvel vs. Capcom character. Spongebob mainly specializes in zoning with multi-hit projectiles and assists, but proves to be viable in close combat by having rather fast Normals and a speedy bicycle kick that has seemingly no startup or recovery time. This sponge is more than ready to take on what comes at him.
Doug1105's version
With custom sprites and a familiar magenta outline, it's pretty obvious who made this character -- actually, it was one of his first. There's a noticeable hint of Marvel vs. Capcom in this character, but unlike many others, it doesn't use that infamous template.
Ivan Luiz's version
Dubbed "SuperSpongeBob", Ivan Luiz's version of the sea sponge isn't very super at all, with only five Normals that can actually deal damage and no Specials or Hypers in sight. Throw in many missing or disjointed hitboxes, and it becomes clear that this sponge is too abrasive for its own good.
AngryNoahs' first version
Having sprites drawn from Microsoft Paint is not a good sign for this little square dude, alongside the use of the Super Marvel vs. Capcom: Eternity of Heroes template. However, this sea sponge appears to have a good zoning ability via long-range attacks with the use of his favorite items such as a spatula and a Krabby Patty, alongside using a jellyfish to sting the opponent, and having a questionable move to turn into a MLP-styled pony.
Rapthemonkey9's version
The gameplay of this obscure square dude is very basic, primarily consisting of projectiles, and his undersea friends aiding in the brawl. However, Spongebob seems to be very underpowered due to having a limited moveset, even though infinite priority can be pulled off.
MyYouTube Rocks' second version
This recent version of the sea sponge may not look ready with a lack of aerials, but he can chain his combos from throwing out Krabby Patties that may be an infinite, and the power of rock.
