Origin

Art of Fighting

Yuri Sakazaki is a character introduced in the Art of Fighting fighting game series, initially as a damsel in distress and eventually as a playable character in the sequel.

Yuri's mother died in a car accident when she was 6 years old, and right after her father leaved the family in order to protect the same. Yuri then lived with her sibling, meeting Robert in the process, until she was kidnapped by one of Geese's underlings when she was 17, as a plot to blackmail her father. After being rescued, her father trained her hidden from both Ryo and Robert, just enough for her to protect herself.

In M.U.G.E.N, Yuri Sakazaki has been made many times by various authors.

Sekirei's version

945YuriIdle

Managing to almost perfectly replicate the systems of the first and second installments of the The King of Fighters series, this version of Yuri also makes use of a stun bar to keep opponents at bay. Unlike other conversions, Yuri also has aesthetics and a proper Power bar from the source game.

NIGTH and REJY2505's version

Sprite yurixiii

This version of Yuri has a very balanced way of attacking and her combos are pretty much tied to the possible ones in the real game. Her sprites are from The King of Fighters XIII. However some attacks like the EX Ko'ou Ken can make combos that aren't possible in the real game and some that can in the game, cannot be performed.

This version of Yuri comes in the Spanish language only.

Juke Kisaragi's version

Juke Kisaragi

Yuri seems to have two separate fighting styles: One coming from her original fighting game appearance in Art of Fighting 2, that contains down-ward projectiles and barrier moves, while the other style is generally a Sakura clone, harboring similar charging uppers and hurricane kicks to the aformentioned character. Juke Kisaragi's version plays like the former. Aside from her down-ward projectile, barrier, and charging slap, she also has fake-out projectile moves where she does the motion for a projectile without actually casting one. The fake-out can be charged as well. In terms of A.I. this version of Yuri is not that aggressive and is slow in her movements. Due to this she can defeated soundly by the average M.U.G.E.N player.

Fervicante's version

This version of Yuri shares the same sprites as Juke Kisaragi's version. There is some variation in this version of Yuri since the A.I. is more aggressive than its less fierce counterpart. She possesses a similar speed as Juke Kisargi's version. Yuri is quick in terms of her punches and kicks and will often try to knock the player character off balance. The fighting style has not changed that much but there are a few exceptions, Yuri utilizes Super Cancels (can be performed after a combo if power is in level 1 or 2 ) and Dream Cancels (can be performed after a Super Cancel or a combo if power is at level 3) which allows the player to counter the opponents attack and inflict a hefty amount of damage. At the end of a second round, this version has a win screen with a quote of Yuri and has other characters from various SNK series doing various winning poses at the bottom right hand corner. It also displays Fervicante's logo. This character has more recent spark effects. This character can be defeated by an interimediate or experienced player.

There is also a modified version of Fervicante's Yuri. The modifications was that the character was renamed Hyper Yuri and had the its speed and A.I. changed significantly to be more faster, aggressive, and competitive. Other changes included different portraits and more spark effects, and some slight modifications to the win screen.
