Squirtle is a Water-type Pokémon from the Pokémon series. It is the first stage of the Blastoise evolution family and the Water-type starter of the Kanto region. It appears at #007 in both the Kanto and National Pokédexes.
Squirtle, being turtles, have the ability to retract into their shells in an attempt to shield themselves from damage. Although retracting into their shells is considered to be a defensive strategy, Squirtle can attack while inside its shell by spinning round and firing powerful jets of water out through the holes.
There are many versions of Squirtle, but the first known one for M.U.G.E.N, was made by an unknown creator. The person who created it didn't leave a name in the .def file under the 'Author's name' section, although it could be the same person who created the bulba character, as their attacks and animations are very similar, as well as them both having two Hypers that make them evolve into Ivysaur and Venusaur, or Wartortle and Blastoise respectively.
Squirtle is a very basic character, as it has no ability to rack up any sort of combo, nor does it have a wide array of moves, as it lacks both air and crouching moves. It is considerably lazily done due to most of its animations consisting of sprites that are used in other animations, no properly looping animations (no 'start loop in this frame' boxes checked), no guard animations, the alternate palette colours are messed up, very stuttery animations, and some poorly drawn sprites such as the evolucion sprites.
Hovering the mouse cursor over the Command Input icons will display text that refers to the inputs set in M.U.G.E.N's Key Config.
Icons encased in square brackets [ ] require the respective button(s) to be held down. Hovering the mouse cursor over the gap displays the hold duration if applicable.
