Perhaps as a result of his obesity, Sammo-Hacka lags heavily when it comes to combos, having very few in his moveset along with many of his attacks having large amounts of startup. To make up for this, the character has highly damaging moves as well as a somewhat higher amount of Life than the average character.

Gameplay[]

Anko Sammo Idle

Sammo is a three-button character with a rather odd button layout, with all of his attacks being activated solely with B in conjunction with many directional motions; while using A to jump and holding X to block attacks, both of which completely replace the regular methods of jumping and blocking, although if he wishes to block low attacks he must still use Down in combination with X.

Sammo's moveset focuses on getting close to the opponent, to knock them back far enough to be hit with a long-range attack, such as Bangbang Chicken. This doesn't make Sammo weak to projectiles, however, as Sammo is invulnerable to being hit with projectiles when using Bangbang Chicken, as well as having FushaNoSha, a counter that only works on projectiles. Comboing Specials into Hypers is also possible to do, such as with the use of Bangbang Chicken and XuanYaLianShanQuan, which can lead to high amounts of damage being done to the opponent.

Sammo's main strengths come from his ability to bypass projectiles with the use of Bangbang Chicken and FushaNoSha, along with having Infinite Priority in almost all of his attacks, giving Sammo quite a number of ways to approach and apply pressure on the opponent. Sammo's Hyper attacks are also particularly powerful, with XuanYaLianShanQuan taking away almost all of an average character's Life. Sammo's main weaknesses come from how many of his attacks have large amounts of startup to them, causing his foe to easily foresee these attacks.

Sammo's A.I. is custom, and quite brutal, often relying on Bangbang Chicken to approach the foe, and using FushaNoSha whenever he detects an incoming projectile attack. He also has a habit of using Toubanjan when the opponent is close. If he has enough Power to do so, Sammo will combo into his Hyper attacks.
