Phazon Madness is an original stage that is only vaguely connected to the Metroid Prime Trilogy, being based around the radioactive Phazon mutagen that is the focal point of the trilogy's plot. In the games themselves, Phazon Madness is a term coined by the space pirates to refer to a life form that has been subjected to exposure from Phazon radiation, with common signs of Phazon madness being increased aggression and a deterioration in brain tissue.
BaganSmashBros' version re-uses both the floor graphic and the energy animation that emanates from the Chozo statue's hands from the creator's Brinstar stage, though the energy animation has been vastly scaled up and multiplied so that it covers the whole screen. Similar to BaganSmashBros' other stages, the camera won't move vertically until a character is in close proximity to the top of the screen, but still zooms out at just the right time so that a character using a Super Jump still mostly remains in the game window. Everything on the stage is slightly tinted a shade of blue, which doesn't have much of an impact by itself, but when combined with the ever-present energy animation that is bound to the camera, characters with a predominantly blue colour scheme become difficult to see, that is providing the stage can even be played on without the animation becoming difficult to look at, as it is likely to cause seizures in those that have photosensitive epilepsy and potential discomfort in those that do not.
