Origin

The King of Fighters

Orochi is a legendary 8 headed snake in Japanese folklore. It serves as the final boss of The King of Fighters '97, and its defeat closes the Orochi Saga arc of the series.

In the game, Orochi is Gaia's Will, and seeks to exterminate humans for their damage of the Earth. To achieve that goal, it appoints 4 Heavenly Kings and 4 Earthly Kings and grants these humans powers in return for serving its cause.

Formerly sealed by the Kusanagi, Yata and the Yasagani (now Yagami) clans 1800 years ago, the weakening of the seal 660 years before the events of The KIng of Fighters '97 allowed the 4 Heavenly Kings and 4 Earthly Kings to be unsealed, wrecking havoc. When they are all defeated by the end of The King of Fighters '97, Orochi possesses Chris and incarnates in him, challenging the winners of the KoF '97 tournament (who have already defeated the last of the Kings). When he is defeated, the 3 clans reseal it with their powers.

In M.U.G.E.N, Orochi has been made many times by many authors, but rarely are these ports source accurate - they all have added moves and capabilities, or a modified movelist. The culmination of this trend produced God Orochi, a very powerful edit of Orochi proporting to show it using its full power.

Kjha's version Edit

Orochi97

Orochi is the pioneer of several staple attacks of boss characters - the screen filler super (Marukare), the shield reversal and the multi-hit projectile. These attacks, along with his high damage output, made him a threat to even the most skilled players. However, his AI was poor and a letdown.

Kjha435y's version improves on all of these flaws and gives Orochi excellent AI that makes use of its screen filler attacks and reduces health bars to zero with ease. Had the KoF '97 version been like this, the game would have been unbeatable.

Zelgadis version (KoF '98 UM ver.)Edit

Orochikofm-stand

Surprisingly for Zelgadis' King of Fighters Memorial characters, this version of Orochi, based on MechKyo's version, is almost exactly 100% accurate to the King of Fighters '98 Ultimate Match in moves.

Where Zelgadis' editing comes in is in the AI, which will punish mistakes by opponents hard. In fact, it is one of the few Orochi versions known to be brutal enough to continue dropping energy pillars on its opponents after landing Marukare on them. This is a true boss character, not to be trifled with.

Eagrose Version (Orochi-EV)Edit

Orochi-EV (Orochi Eagrose Version) is an edit of Orochi by Eagrose. Like many of his edits, they feature new special moves and supers, many of them taken from other popular Orochi edits and The King of Fighters Zillion fangame, alongside supers, 12p mode and a team mode assist super.

Like Igniz-EV, he has an Inner Mode (palettes 6-11) and a Nightmare Mode (palette 12) too.

AI of this character is still extremely powerful, so consider him one notch below God Orochi in threat.

Note that anytime x+y or a+b is pressed, you can press z or c respectively to execute the super, but not vice versa.
