Origin

Pokémon

Onix is a Rock/Ground-type Pokémon from the Pokémon series. It evolves into Steelix if it is traded to another player whilst holding a Metal Coat, and appears at #095 in both the Kanto and National Pokédexes.

Onix can burrow underground at over fifty miles per hour, which causes huge tremors. If its body falls apart due to a strong enough impact, it can grow it back over the duration of a few weeks. Despite being very hot-headed, Onix can be easily domesticated.

An Onix character has been made for M.U.G.E.N by Minoo under the name of 'iwa-ku', despite Minoo being Japanese, the actual Japanese name for Onix is Iwark. Like Minoo's Ramparudo character, iwa-ku is made from custom-made sprites, but also uses some widely used sprites, such as the ones present in its Earthquake animation. Minoo's iwa-ku has been edited by Rel, making it more of a Marvel vs Capcom style character and significantly increasing its attack rate and damage output.

As one would expect from a large pile of rocks, iwa-ku's movement speed is excruciatingly slow, having to rely on its hops and jump in order to cover any sort of distance; iwa-ku's offence is slightly weaker than average, but this is offset by its far reaching attacks, projectiles and rock-solid defences.
