This character has sprites animated completely in Flash and varied attacks, and though it may seem weak at first glance, it is in reality a challenging foe that can lock the enemy in various of its combo options.
Maxime's gameplay uses all six attack buttons. Ⓐ and Ⓑ are basic attack buttons, Ⓒ activates a special, Ⓧ is a counter move that can leech off an opponent's Power, Ⓨ is a grab, and Ⓩ is a taunt of sorts that can also restore Power.
Maxime has rather low damage output in its basic combos. However, this doesn't mean that it is weak overall. In fact, there are many factors that can counterbalance this. It generally has fast-paced gameplay, being able to combo an opponent by repeatedly pressing a basic attack button. In addition, while its normals are rather weak, its Specials and especially its Hypers have large damage output.
Combined with many of the above factors, Maxime can be quite deadly if used correctly. It is able to gain Power quicker than other characters, meaning that Hypers can be used quite often.
Maxime also has a tough A.I. that will use combos and Hypers quite frequently.
