Mortal Kombat Project is a M.U.G.E.N. project which focuses on Mortal Kombat. The game has undergone several revisions, including revision that made this game almost completely different from the original game. Since it's first release, the game has improved in many ways (such as improving the game engine, to make it seem more like Mortal Kombat Trilogy), as well as having created new characters (like Hydro) and transferred 3-D characters (like Reiko). Even minor characters from the Mortal Kombat franchise have made their way into the game (like Tremor and Hornbuckle) and characters that are based off already established fighters (like Human Cyrax). The Current version is 4.1, with version 5.1 planned for 2009 but not released.

This Project is currently abandoned, as it was unupdated for a long time. However, it is still avaliable to download.

A new beta for MKP 5.1 was released with one character on the end of 2012 on the channel of markos (youtube.com/markosmkp)
