Mecha Sonic is a robotic version of Sonic that has so far appeared only in the game Sonic & Knuckles.
Mecha Sonic is a powerful robot created by Dr. Eggman, and as with all of Eggman's robots, its purpose was to defeat Sonic and any of his allies. When in contact with the Master Emerald, Mecha Sonic gained attributes similar to Sonic when he uses the power of the Chaos/Super Emeralds, such as invincibility and the glowing, golden appearance. It was held back by Sonic and was eventually destroyed by Knuckles. There's another incarnation of Mecha Sonic which was the semi-final boss in Sonic the Hedgehog 2, sometimes referred to by fans as Silver Sonic to avoid confusion between the two.
In M.U.G.E.N, Mecha Sonic has been made by various authors. Most versions of Mecha Sonic were inspired by the fan-made animation Super Mario Bros. Z, while others are reconstructions of both incarnations of the Mecha Sonic boss battles in the classic Sonic games.
Mecha Sonic isn't an overly great character; it lacks hitboxes on animations to do with its hyper attacks, power charge and being hit states, it cannot combo its attacks, nor are they overly powerful, and it lacks many of the required sprites that show when being thrown. Despite looking like a Megaman character sprite edit, Mecha Sonic contains attributes that relate more closely to the Dragon Ball series, such as the sound effects and explosions used in its attacks.

Being an edit of supermystery's Vegeta, this version is heavily inspired off Dragon Ball Z and uses sprites from Sonic & Knuckles. Over-exposure to the Master Emerald leaves it with a ton of easy infinites, wonky hitboxes, a spammy and hardly beatable A.I. and a plethora of other issues.
