A simple character with a simple moveset, Marion has some elements of your typical shoto-clone, such as a projectile and an uppercut, though the tatsumaki-esque attack runs along the ground instead of the air and Marion's tail does the attacking, not its feet. Its attacks are very short-ranged, putting it at quite the disadvantage.
Marion is a basic four-button character with a standard shoto-clone gameplay. Its attack range is very short, making it hard for Marion to actually hit the opponent without getting in really close; Marion is able to pull off some small combos, so if it does manage to get in close, it's not completely helpless.
In terms of A.I., Marion uses the engine default. Seeing as the A.I. isn't aware that Marion needs to get really close to the opponent to actually hit them, one might find it flailing around helplessly. The A.I. patch by GarchompMatt remedies this, but also makes Marion quite aggressive, relentlessly wailing on the opponent and typically using its Spin Attack Special due to it having the most range, often followed up by the Hyper version of Spin Attack. If the opponent plans to attack from above, Marion will either use uppercut or projectile to stop it in its tracks.

The "Super Special" voice clip that can be heard when Marion activates a Hyper is taken from The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, specifically "Super Special Sonic Search and Smash Squad", which was spoken by Dr. Robotnik.
