Koakuma is a minor character from Touhou Project, first appearing as the stage 4 Mid-boss of Embodiment of Scarlet Devil.

Much of Koakuma's existence remains a mystery, as Koakuma is not her name, but rather the name of her species, implying that there may be more than one of her kind in existence. What is known is that there is at least one specimen of Koakuma seen around the library of the Scarlet Devil Mansion as Patchouli Knowledge's assistant.

In M.U.G.E.N, Koakuma has been made by Som, Shiroto, Daniel9999999 and Pgrs111MAGEN; Som's version features gameplay similar to that of Immaterial and Missing Power, Scarlet Weather Rhapsody and Hisoutensoku, Shiroto's version, aptly named 'Glaugan Koa', is based on Glaugan, Zero's pet from The King of Fighters, and Daniel9999999's version uses a unique gameplay system that's based on Clayfighter 63 1/3; Pgrs111MAGEN's version, named 'Retarded Koakuma', is a spriteswap of Daniel9999999's version with random sprites and sounds, as well as an incorrect palette.

This Koakuma is a six-button character with a unique gameplay system inspired by that of Clayfighter 63⅓ that relies more on melee attacks than projectiles. By using Blunt Object, Koakuma can collect various items such as stars (collect 10 for an extra "life"), Life Balloons (colored as Red, Green and Blue, giving one, two and three "lives" each, respectively), K-O-N-G Letters, which grant Koakuma an extra "life" if all are collected, and the the Glitch Balloon anti-powerup, which subtracts 1 "life"; such "lives" are used during Live-Alive, which restores 200 Life.
