King Leonidas I (born circa 540 BC - died August 11, 480 BC) was a warrior king of the Greek city-state of Sparta, who led the allied Greek forces against the invading Persian army led by Xerxes I during the Second Persian Invasion of Greece, where Leonidas was killed during the Battle of Thermopylae.

According to most accounts of the Battle of Thermopylae, Leonidas took with him only 300 Spartan soldiers to join the remaining Greek forces, totaling only 7,000 men compared to the Persian army's size of approximately 70,000-300,000; despite having lost the battle to the Persians at the cost of Leonidas's life, the natural landscape of Thermopylae's mountain pass allowed the Greek armies to inflict severe casualties to the Persian forces. Leonidas's legacy during the battle serves as the basis of the 1998 comic series 300, which was later adopted into film in 2007, where he is portrayed by actor Gerard Butler. One particular scene from the film, in where Leonidas kills a Persian messenger after threatening Leonidas with war should he not surrender, has gained status as an internet meme.

In M.U.G.E.N, King Leonidas has been made by DE@TH by SP0ON under the name of 300guy.

A character notorious for having received very negative feedback, 300guy is little more than a headswap of Ax Battler from Golden Axe. With a very limited moveset, lack of comboabiliy and no Specials or Hypers, he is a very difficult character to play as. This character is not going to succeed in the Battle of Thermopylae anytime soon.
