Arguably one of the earliest and best versions of Wolverine to come out, this version is quite infamous for its incredibly difficult A.I. It also shows great accuracy to most of Wolverine's appearances under Capcom's fighting games.
While it was meant to be based most on Marvel Super Heroes, This version of Wolverine uses a combo of its attacks from X-Men vs. Street Fighter and Marvel vs. Capcom. Its gameplay seems to be more reminiscent of the latter, using hyper backgrounds from said game.
Wolverine seems to rely most on close combat, due to having no projectiles. It has a wide variety of moves, as well as a unique Hyper not included in the source games, but it is labeled as a hidden Move. Berserker Barrage can be mashed to gain extra hits. Overall, Wolverine is combo heavy, also possesing a potent air game.
One of its most notable features is its brutal A.I, which at the time of its release, was considered to be one of the hardest fair A.Is in M.U.G.E.N, being on the same level as characters such as Super Mario. Another overlooked feature due to Wolverine's brutal A.I is the ability to change the level of A.I between 3 levels via the .def file.
