Great Wario lives up to its name now, but this wasn't always the case, as it used to be a spriteswap of Big Eli King's self character; fortunately with the help of @ndroide, it was fixed, making a solid and famous character in the process.

Gameplay[]

WarioStanding

Wario is a slow, four-button character, though his gameplay style is nothing too fancy. Some of his moves makes him temporarily invincible and can be useful against characters with brutal A.I.

Being a King of Fighters-styled character, Wario's combos are usually pretty short, but in turn, pack a punch. You can use his crouching Button-b to launch your foe into the air and follow up with three more, and end it with either a Button-x loop into Wario Combo Punch /Crockofire or any of the previously mentioned supers on their own. Wario Punch lets the greedy treasure hunter fly across the screen with full invincibility, while also launching his foes into the air, letting him perform Button-x loops. He also has a double jump and air dash, allowing him to get two aerials in and continue his combos.

Wario's Button-x is good for stuffing out approaches due to its incredibly short windup and endlag, as well as being a solid disjoint. Button-b is also a solid poking tool, with a slightly disjointed hitbox and good speed.

You're mainly gonna be approaching with Wario Punch and his medium aerials. Wario Punch's relatively disjointed hitbox and iframes make it great for your approach. His medium aerials have massive hitboxes, and are extremely easy to land. You can also try to approach with your crouching Button-b as well, since it hits low, has a good hitbox, and comes out pretty quickly. When on the defence, you take less damage since your defence value is higher than average. Remember, Wario Punch is your friend. If you see an opening in your foe's pressure, Wario Punch out and start getting in.

For anti airs, you can use all of his specials and supers. They range from solid to amazing. Another great anti air is his crouching Button-y, with it's enormous hitbox. You could also use his Button-x, but you're more likely to get hit. Air to air wise, just go for his jumping Button-y/Button-b.

Wario's A.I. is neither easy nor too difficult.

Trivia[]

  • Many of Wario's sprites seem to be based off official artwork, such as his winpose.
  • In the ReadMe, Genocide Cutter, a move originally used by Rugal, along with its command input is displayed in the special moves list, but Wario can't use this move.
