Playing with attacks from any Black Mage in the source game, Vivi is only armed with magic for its Specials and Hypers. Its Specials are all projectiles, and most of them doesn't use up Power correctly. It's Hypers, while correctly using Power, are all very strong, though the player will have a hard time gathering Power for them.
Vivi is a 6-button character, using for its Normals and , alongside additional inputs, for part of its Specials. Vivi's standing Normals are all double hitting attacks, while its aerial normals only hit once; Vivi has no crouching normals, though the character's size makes them not as necessary as with the majority of the chars.
Vivi's Specials are meant to use up Power, as stated in the readme, but only Earthwall works correctly, because Fire3 and Ice2 works without Power, and DarkMagic and Watera doesn't uses up Power; as a result of working without power, Fire3 can be easily used as an Infinite. Vivi's Specials are all projectiles, and thus can all be reflected or countered by attacks with the or attribute, respectively.
Vivi has 3 Hypers, using 3000, 6000, and 9000 Power for each of them. Quake, the Hyper that costs 3000 Power, is and hits , as well as taking more than half an average character's health. Drain, the 6000 Power Hyper, deals damage to the nearest opponent (as well as less damage to the other opponent in Simul), and recovers 330 Life to Vivi. Holyga, the 9000 Power Hyper, is an Hyper that has enough damage to defeat average opponents without chance of reacting.
Vivi uses the engine's default A.I., and rarely if ever uses its Specials or Hypers.
