Kongou is an oni from the 1996 Capcom story-based fighting game Red Earth. He is the boss of the Zipang stage of the game, sporting red skin, white hair, a blue cloth, and a spiked club with a holed end.
Kongou was once a portly merchant named Tanuma. After meeting the sorcerer Scion, he gained the ability to transform into an ogre, which led him to terrorize his homeland and attack anyone in his way, including the ninja Kenji. Outside of Red Earth, he has made cameos in Jedah's Capcom Fighting Evolution ending and Hsien-Ko's Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 ending, but has not made any major appearances since his debut.
In M.U.G.E.N, Kongou has been made by Doggiedoo, Kong, and YoungKirei & Take.K.
Gameplay[]
Kongou (Red Earth) is more than likely intended to be a boss character due to their size, power and super-armor after a certain amount of health is depleted from them. They are extremely slow, and their attacks range from swinging their club at the enemy to spraying a burst of acid from their stomach. When a certain amount of health is depleted from them, they enter a mode where their body gains a firey color, and several of their attacks gain additional effects.
