Alex Mercer is the main character of the [PROTOTYPE] series. In the games, Alex is not really himself. He is the manifestation of a virus that the "human" and original Alex Mercer released before he was killed by a group of military. That virus almost spread to the entire world, but was contained in a portion of Manhattan not too far from ground zero. This quarantined zone was dubbed NYZ(New York Zero) by on-sight autorities. Later, it was divided into the Green, Red, Yellow, and Blue Zones, the last of which is presumably the locale of the first game, whilst the other three are available in the second. The supposive Alex is infected with the Blacklight Virus. He is codenamed "Zeus" which is the name most commonly used by the military. Alex´s only goals become destroying the virus that he spread and finding out who infected him and why.
In M.U.G.E.N, Alex Mercer he has been made once by Gans. There is also a better version with better stats and increased AI made by an unknown actor, that is also available for download on the same website.
Gameplay[]
Alex Mercer is a 6 button character. Most of his moves involve his shape shifting abilities. There is 1 of them that just doesn't work, and due to some of his attacks being considered part of his hit box, he can be harmed when doing many attacks, several of which do not enact an invincible state when they should (such as one of his hypers). Despite this, he is a relatively simple character to pick up. He's very strong (boss damage), takes an insane number of hits, and can K.O. almost any opponent in just several blows. It is highly recommended to turn down his HP or his defense because it takes so long to lower, while his attack is in some ways too high even for a boss and especially when taking the number of hits he takes/the damage he deals. The only backside to Alex's insane damage is that all of his attacks have extremely visible startups, with some of them taking up to 2 seconds to use. In comparison, his single button attacks deal less damage but can all combo into each other. Alex has 4 supers, and almost every move in his arsenal requires a quarter circle and 1 button (minus one which requires 2 buttons) and his basic attacks which all use one. His sprites and animations are fluid, and he has sound clips and animations taken from Prototype.
His only downside is his A.I. is sub-par.
