With only four attacks at its disposal and a Reload move that fills up the Power meter, there's not a lot to expect from this character. It uses the model from Half-Life: Source for its sprites, which are animated surprisingly well, though the character itself is a bit strange, functioning at its fullest during only the first round.
Grunt is a four-button character with a button layout not seen in traditional fighting games, where Ⓧ is a kick, Ⓨ fires an M4A1 that uses Power, Ⓩ maxes out the Power meter and Ⓑ throws a grenade. Outside of Ⓧ, Grunt quite a powerful character that doesn't really care whether the opponent blocks its attacks or not, given how small the difference between guarded and non-guarded damage is for Ⓨ and Ⓑ.
Grunt's play style is a quite unconventional, having limited uses for all of its moves except Ⓧ; Ⓨ relies on Power, which can either be built-up by using Ⓧ to attack or by using Ⓩ which fills up the meter entirely, though Ⓩ can only be used four times and prevents usage of Ⓨ after the fourth use. Ⓑ is limited to three uses.
