Another DOS M.U.G.E.N Pikachu character, Milano's PIKACHU will not function in WinMUGEN and newer due to multiple errors; this is to be expected, as it is a spriteswap of the original Kung Fu Man, a character that also fails to function outside of DOS M.U.G.E.N. The majority of the character is exactly the same as Kung Fu Man, though it disappears during its Normal Attacks.

Gameplay[]

Main article: Kung Fu Man's gameplay

MilanoPikaidle

PIKACHU is a practically unaltered spriteswap of the very first Kung Fu Man, using the same two-button layout, combo system and hitboxes. Like Kung Fu Man, it fails function outside of DOS M.U.G.E.N, simply causing errors in newer versions of the engine due to unquoted command names.

There are differences between PIKACHU and Kung Fu Man outside of visuals (or lack of, during its Normal Attacks), with the most notable examples being the removal of the Air Jump, the run and the Backwards Hop, as well as the alterations to Down, Down-Right, Right A that make it a projectile-based move instead of the weaker variant of Kung Fu Palm; named 10万ボルト, the Special fires a small projectile in front of PIKACHU that can become an infinite if timed correctly, though the attack does nothing at all if it is simply spammed.

Because PIKACHU was released during the DOS M.U.G.E.N era, the known methods of creating custom A.I. programming did not yet exist, meaning characters had to rely on the engine's default A.I. Although PIKACHU is incompatible with versions of M.U.G.E.N outside of DOS M.U.G.E.N, the default A.I. behaviour typically blocks and jumps around, only occasionally activating its attacks.

Trivia[]

  • The majority of PIKACHU's errors involve unquoted commands and redundant values like third velocities and second sparkno values. It is likely that DOS M.U.G.E.N's parser either didn't count them as erroneous, or ignored them altogether.
