Like MUGENHunter's other characters, MUGENHunter's Knuckles uses custom sprites and The King of Fighters-styled gameplay. He appears to be more defensive than MUGENHunter's other characters. His comboability is limited, but his Hypers hit very hard.
This version of Knuckles uses the same button layout as MUGENHunter's other characters, having a The King of Fighters-styled gameplay, akin to MUGENHunter's other characters. He uses Ⓐ and Ⓧ for punches, Ⓑ and Ⓨ for kicks, Ⓒ for a Dodge and Ⓩ for a knockdown attack.
Like most of MUGENHunter's characters, his comboability is limited, though moreso in Knuckles' case. His attacks are slow, meaning combos are very hard to perform. Also, his damage output isn't high enough to compensate. He focuses on single hits to chip away the opponent's health. His ranged attacks are limited, but some of his Specials give some forward momentum. He also has slightly buffed stats, meaning he can take more hits than the average character, giving him an advantage.
This character has a mechanic shared across MUGENHunter's other characters where pressing both buttons at once instead of either of the buttons required to activate a Hyper, activates a more powerful version of the Hyper which costs 2000 Power instead of 1000. While his Normals are very combo-unfriendly, its Hypers hit very hard, with his 2000 Power versions being able to take out almost half of the opponent's life, though they are short-ranged.
This character has a custom A.I. While it isn't very different from the default A.I. in terms of difficulty, it attacks more often than the default A.I. It tends to use Echidna Dash Punch often.
