Aya Shameimaru is a tengu from Touhou Project. She first appeared in Phantasmagoria of Flower View as a playable character and possible opponent, and later reappeared in Mountain of Faith and Scarlet Weather Rhapsody. She is a playable character in the spin-offs Shoot the Bullet and Double Spoiler.
Aya is the news reporter of Gensokyo and runs the Bunbunmaru Newspaper, though her news articles are often slightly exaggerated. She has the ability to manipulate wind and has incredible speed, priding herself as being "the fastest" in Gensokyo, though she is also very strong, as evidenced when she accidentally defeats others in battle while intending to cover a news story. She rivals Hatate Himekaidou, a fellow tengu and the reporter of the Kakashi Spirit News.
In M.U.G.E.N, Aya has been made by various creators.
Kohaku's version[]
Like all of Kohaku's Touhou characters, this version of Aya has custom gameplay rather than gameplay based on the Touhou fighting games, focusing more on close-range combat instead of projectiles. She comes with three different defense options and has decent comboability, though she doesn't have a custom A.I.
RicePigeon's version[]
While she may not possess Psycho Power nor work for CNN, RicePigeon's take on Gensokyo's own fake news tengu with psycho speed sports a rushdown oriented gameplay centered on relatively fast Normals, a camera that stuns opponents while neutralizing projectiles, and charge input Specials that would make even a certain dictator proud. This Aya should have more than enough tools to keep up the offensive pressure, despite the constant negative press and her relatively low damage output.
