Pokémon

May is a human from the Pokémon series. She is one of two playable characters and possible NPC character in Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire and Pokémon Emerald, along with their remakes Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. May also appears in the Pokémon anime as a secondary protagonist.

In the games, if May is chosen as the playable character, she is the daughter of the Petalburg City Gym Leader, Norman, who recently moved from the Johto region. She meets Professor Birch, from whom she receives her starter Pokémon, as well as her rival and Birch's son Brendan, who is helping his father complete the Hoenn region's Pokédex. She travels the Hoenn region, collecting the 8 badges to compete in the Pokémon League, as well as encountering Team Aqua and Team Magma, who wish to awaken the legendary Pokémon Groudon and Kyogre for their own nefarious purposes. If May is not chosen as the playable character, she switches roles with Brendan.

In the anime, May is Pokémon coordinator from Petalburg City and is the daughter of the Petalburg City Gym Leader, Norman, and sister of Max. She meets Ash Ketchum during his travels in the Hoenn region, and starts traveling with him after obtaining her first Pokémon, Torchic. She has rivalries from some contest participants, Drew, Harley, and Jessie of Team Rocket, and goes on to win many contests. She is in four Pokémon movies. She picked Torchic as her first Pokémon and Squirtle as her first Kanto Pokémon. May is generally a very sweet, fun-loving, caring, kind-hearted, and a brave person. But sometimes a real go-getter type of confident person. When it comes to certain things, she can be a glass half-full type of a straight woman that she is, even though she is a very nice person.

In M.U.G.E.N, May was created twice by Tokathiki.

Tokathiki's first version[]

Haruka

This version of May is a six-buttoned character. There is an interesting quirk involving her Torchic striker; because Torchic's health is dependent on May's Power, Torchic may inadvertently heal itself whenever May is hit or gains Power by other means. Her other Pokémon is Beautifly. Z sends out her Pokémon and Start lets her decide which pokemon to send out. When her health is low, she can summon Steven to do a move that does 1500 damage (800 when blocked) and is also known as the desperation move. If both her Pokémon faint, she cannot attack except for summoning Steven.
