Origin

Touhou Project

Mamizou Futatsuiwa is a bake-danuki from Touhou Project. She first appeared as the Extra Stage boss in Ten Desires and later reappeared as a playable character in Hopeless Masquerade and Urban Legend in Limbo.

Mamizou originally lived in the outside world among the humans living in the city of Sado in Japan's Niigata prefecture. As a long-time friend of Nue Houjuu, Nue called for Mamizou's assistance during the events of Ten Desires after the resurrection of Toyosatomimi no Miko and her Taoist followers threatened Byakuren's Myouren Temple and her Buddhist followers. By the time Mamizou had arrived in Gensokyo, however, the incident had already been resolved by the protagonist, so she took up residence at the Myouren Temple. Although Mamizou is good-natured, she tends to have a mischievous streak by pulling pranks on humans, usually through the use of her transformation ability as a Bake-danuki. Because she is extremely proud of her Bake-danuki lineage, she makes absolutely no effort to hide her tail while transformed.

In M.U.G.E.N, Mamizou has been made by various creators.

MinooMamizouIdle

Minoo's version of Mamizou is a custom sprited character with an unusual playstyle similar to the creator's other Touhou Project characters, with said playstyle involving the use of only two buttons for melee attacks and the other buttons for either projectiles or Hypers. For reasons known only to her, mamizou seems to prefer transforming into her Buddhist allies and using their Special attacks rather than utilising her own.

Etoile's version[]

EtoileMamizouidle

Etoile's take on the tanuki from Sado seems to have been inspired by Mamizou's younger years during the Second World War, as evidenced by her Akatsuki Blitzkampf-style gameplay. While she retains some projectiles that would make her seem like a zoner at first glance, she seems to be geared more towards offensive rushdown and pressure, with her projectiles serving more as cover fire that would make even those at Iwo Jima jealous.

RPMamizou-Idle

Armed with a band of tanuki to do her bidding, Mamizou takes a page out of Persona 4 Arena, only with her army of tanuki playing the role of her Persona. Their gameplan: to keep the opponent at bay, while Mamizou herself rushes in for the assault. However, once Mamizou's leaves are wasted, her tanuki army will decide they've had enough punishment and desert their leader in the field of battle for some time.
