This version of Yoshi may seem like a regular Yoshi's Island-inspired conversion, but its usage of a generally negatively-perceived template, alongside odd-ranged Normals and overpowered infinites, may make you want to consider not counting this egg before it hatches.

Gameplay[]

Yoshi is a six-button character using the DC vs. Marvel template, utilizing gameplay similar to the Marvel vs. Capcom series. Because of this, Yoshi has a Move launches the opponent upwards to initiate an air combo, activated by a crouching Z, alongside a Super Jump and an aerial Dash, the former of which being activated by either after said attack, [Down]Up or A+B+C and the latter of which being activated by tapping Right twice as if it were on the ground.

Yoshi is supposed to have chain comboing, as did its original template; however, its odd-ranged and multi-hit Normals prevent this from happening when not using X, Y, or Z. Yoshi has a few infinites, one of which being Fire Spit, a fast projectile that can be used multiple times even when the projectile is still out, unlike Egg Throw, which due to it being a modified attack from the template, checks for the projectile before sending it out. A good amount of Yoshi's Normals can also be infinites as well. If timed right and at the right range, its attacks that involve using its tongue horizontally (specifically its standing Y and Z, alongside its crouching B and C) can loop into themselves due to their multi-hit properties. Its aerial X can be this as well if the opponent is in the air with them, as a fast, multi-hit attack, similarly to its on-ground Normals.

Yoshi's A.I. is similar to the original template's, having an emphasis on rushing down the opponent and setting up an airborne combo, usually using a projectile and the Forward Dash to capture its opponent and prepare to use its Move launches the opponent upwards to initiate an air combo. It also uses hypers if it gets the chance to, especially after a fast combo. This may make it annoying to some, especially inexperienced players, especially with its strong attacks and lack of proper damage scaling.

Trivia[]

  • Super Fire Spit has coding taken from Actarus' Axel Stone. Alongside this, it and Egg Roll are oddly classified as Normals rather than Hypers.
