Beware the almighty Dopefish, as they are hungry and crave opponents for sustenance! With some easy-to-learn combos, complete disregard for gravity and cameos from The Demented Cartoon Movie as Assists, Dopefish is not one to scoff at.
Dopefish is a six-button character that plays like a four-button character, with Ⓐ, Ⓧ and Ⓨ used for attacks, Ⓑ used for blocking and for a dash, and Ⓑ and Ⓨ used for two Assist attacks. Dopefish is unable to crouch or jump, but instead can freely float around the stage with water-like movement, so long as they do not exceed the boundaries of the stage itself.
Dopefish can Cancel their Ⓧ Normal into their Ⓐ Normal, which can then be cancelled into a Special. Dopefish can also cancel into Gobble Up from either Normals or Specials, though doing so costs 1000 Power.
Dopefish's signature attack is Gobble Up, an move where Dopefish dashes forward and tries to eat the opponent whole, though it has a long startup time and cannot hit opponents lying on the ground. Rapid Pirahna Bite is a good move to combo into Gobble Up, as it has a similar animation and also charges towards the opponent, though it is only a series of rapid-fire attacks. Somersault Flip is a single-hit attack that slightly launches the opponent into the air, and is also pretty good to follow up with Gobble Up.
Dopefish also has a few moves that are best used at longer distances. Energy Ball is a that can be charged up to deal more damage and travel faster. Fooby, the Kamikaze Watermelon and Zeeky H. Bomb are Dopefish's Assists, both of which have rather long startup times and cost 1000 Power. Fooby, the Kamikaze Watermelon summons a fast that inflicts on airborne opponents, making it a good anti-air. Zeeky H. Bomb tracks the opponent and then explodes with a rather large hitbox, and is to boot.
Dopefish's A.I. will often switch between playing offensively by trying to combo the opponent into Gobble Up, and playing defensively by using Energy Ball while also using their Assists.
