While not the first or last version of Michelangelo, this was the first version to emulate Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters on the SNES. It uses voice samples from the Japanese version, a different default palette, and is overall a faithful port from the source.

Gameplay[]

DescolorMikeyIdle

Descolor's version of Michelangelo is a four button character that emulates Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters. As expected, Z and C aren't used at all, not even as shortcuts.

This version attempts to provide a source accurate experience to the above mentioned game. However, it isn't a 100% accurate, but still plays similar nonetheless. The high damage output was retained, as many of the source game conversions have, with the lone Hyper (being activated with Y+B) taking almost 3/4ths of a normal character's (like Kung Fu Man) lifebar away.

Michelangelo also seems to be sightly more agile than in the source game, being able to pull off a few more combos than the source game. However, this isn't saying much, as these combos may not exceed a few hits.

This version, like most of Descolor's characters, has a rather challenging custom A.I. It plays more offensive, rather than defensive, compared to the other turtles, looking for openings and getting close to attack.

Trivia[]

  • Despite not having any proper winquotes, the victory sequence from the source game plays on the final round. The winquotes during this segment are also in Japanese.
  • This version is also based off the Japanese version, with the higher pitched voices from said version.
  • The victory theme from the game plays during Michelangelo's victory animation, with another variation playing if it manages to achieve a perfect K.O.
  • Despite the other turtles not having this problem, Michelangelo is missing a frame or two in its taunt, causing it to momentarily disappear.
  • The .snd file also contains sounds from the other turtles, possibly due to all four of them being bundled together on their initial release, sharing files.
