Gameplay[]

Balrog CS pal01

Balrog is a six-button character that does not fight like a regular character. Unlike other characters that attack by punching and kicking, Balrog instead relies on grabbing or stomping on them. Grabbing can be activated by pressing either the X button where Balrog marches straight forward, the Y button, which will jump instead, or the C button, where the jump can be controlled. The C button also causes rockets to come out to attack the opponent. The A button activates three slow but unblockable moving bubbles to serve as projectiles. The Z button cause Balrog to jump and fall to the ground, causing a shake that could lead to damage if not jumped. With the B button, Balrog is sent flying into the air before crashing to the ground, creating multiple projectiles to come out.

All of Balrog's Hyper moves are souped up versions of his regular moves, and can be difficult to avoid or dodge. The character also has super armor, letting Balrog be able to use any of its attacks while being damaged.

Balrog has custom A.I. that mostly just stands and uses one of its attacks at a time. While the A.I. itself isn't terribly hard, the fact that all of its attacks are unblockable, as well as having super armor, can make Balrog quite a challenge.
