Fat Albert is a cartoon character from Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids. He is based on Bill Cosby's childhood friend Albert Robertson. As the main character in the series, he is the heart and soul (and often the conscience) of the Junkyard Gang. Though depicted as being obese, he is shown to enjoy sports, often playing in different games with the rest of the gang. Fat Albert works hard to maintain integrity in the gang and with others, and is the lead singer as well as bagpipe-accordion (made from a funnel, radiator and an airbag) player in the Junkyard Band.
