Origin

Street Fighter

Evil Ryu is a variation of Ryu from the Street Fighter series when he loses control of himself and is consumed by the Satsui No Hado. He is first introduced in Street Fighter Alpha 2, where he appears as a separate character from Ryu.

In Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max, Evil Ryu is awakened and goes looking for a skilled opponent that can defeat him in a fight to the end. Evil Ryu encounters Sagat and the two fight with Ryu as the victor. Puzzled, Evil Ryu asks Sagat why he did not fight with his full strength. Sagat replies that Evil Ryu is "not the man who left a scar on his chest". Later, Evil Ryu sees M. Bison. Bison reveals that Ryu's body is now the perfect host for his Psycho Power. The two fight with Ryu winning. Evil Ryu later, finds Shin Akuma and asks him what lies ahead. The two fight with Shin Akuma saying that "only the winner will ever know the truth".

After Evil Ryu wins the battle, he takes Shin Akuma's training ground for himself and wonders if he can ever find the one who can defeat him.

Prior to Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition, Evil Ryu has awakened once more after getting a large hole in his chest. While he still seeks for a worthy opponent, he is now much more brutal than he ever was.

In M.U.G.E.N, Evil Ryu has been made by various authors.

Reuben Kee & Kingtigre's version[]

Evilryureu

When most M.U.G.E.Nites think about Evil Ryu, two things come to mind: Its deceased creator, and this version itself. It seems to be based off a multitude of Capcom's fighting games, and it has an infamously difficult A.I to boot.

PotS' version[]

PotSERyuidle

PotS' Ryu uses a variation of the Capcom vs. SNK system with mechanics from its Grooves and a two other modes to choose from; one of those is Evil Ryu, which boasts faster movement and stronger Attack at the cost of lower Defence. He loses certain moves for the Asura Senkuu and the Shun Goku Satsu, and some moves, like the Shoryuu Ken and Tatsumaki Senpuu Kyaku, have slight, but still noticeable, differences.
