Duck Hunt Dog has six buttons, four are Normals ((X)Button-x (Y)Button-y (A)Button-a (B)Button-b) and the other two are Specials. However, Nintendo Gun is the only Special according to the M.U.G.E.N engine; Duck Throw and CartWheel (the latter intended to be a Hyper because of the Power it takes up) are counted as Normals. Cartwheel takes up 1000 Power and is activated with QCF (A)Button-a+(B)Button-b. Perhaps due to the character's beta state, there is no Super Pause to accompany the move. Duck Throw is activated with (C)Button-c, and leaves Duck Hunt Dog invincible until the projectile (that drops down from the sky) comes out. It is very unfinished, retaining Kung Fu Man's win quotes and has no palettes or portrait.

The character has an inconsistent amount of Normals. While standing, it has four (excluding (Z)Button-z/(C)Button-c). (A)Button-a causes it to kick dirt, but if the button is tapped quickly enough, the attack won't come out. (B)Button-b is a bite that knocks down. While it is crouching however, it has access to only one Normal, used by pressing (X)Button-x. It has the same issue as the (A)Button-a. In air, it can only do two Normals, (A)Button-a and (X)Button-x. This character is ultimately unable to combo, aside from a simple three hit one with its (A)Button-a.

It is a very small target, forcing its opponent to use crouching attacks. While it does have the proper amount of hitboxes, a few of them are missing, like blue hitboxes for the start of its jump and blue hitboxes for its (S)Button-s. To make matters worse, all of the attacks have Infinite Priority, and cover far more ground than they would appear to. It has a KOF styled run, where as long as the player holds Button-F, the character will continue to run. There is also a Backdash.

Lacking any custom A.I., the character is stuck with the engine's default. It doesn't fight back often and will simply jump around, although it will attack at random intervals.
